Care Instructions for Flower Bouquets
1. Remove the bouquet from the Packaging
Removing all packaging from the bouquets will help the flowers “breathe” and fluff up.
2. Fill Your clean vase 2/3 full with room temperature water
Having the appropriate vase size will help really showcase your bouquet. It is very important that you start with a CLEAN vase because a bouquet’s worse enemy is bacteria. Room temperature water is the most preferred because there are many blooms that don’t like cold temperatures such as sunflowers.
3. Add Floral Food (or alternatives) and stir well
If your bouquet came with a floral food packet, use it! This will help feed your blooms to encourage longer vase life.
Alternatives:
4. Strip Foliage and trim the ends of your stems at an angle
Leafy foliage under the water line of your vase can cause bacteria and mold to grow very quickly. To maintain the best vase life, take off as much foliage as possible and trim the ends of stems at a 45 degree angle. The angle cut will ensure your stems are properly hydrating without it accidentally being hindered by the bottom of the vase.
5. Arrange Flowers in the vase and place away from direct light
Depending on how you are displaying your flowers, you want to arrange your flowers in a 360° view or all facing one direction. Easiest tip is to arrange your flowers from least showy to most showy (focal) flower. This will allow your focal flowers to shine without being lost in filler.
Keeping your bouquet away from direct light will help maintain even temperatures and prolong vase life.
6. Recut the stems and replace water every 2 days
To prevent bacteria from growing, recut stems and replace the water (with or without floral food) every 2 days.
